Dwarka Expressway: Fast Approaching Completion, Driving Development and Connectivity

1. Completion Nearing:

• Gurgaon section opens in January: The much-awaited Gurgaon portion of the expressway is finally set to open by February 2024, according to the latest update from NHAI officials. This marks significant progress after several missed deadlines.

• April 2024 target for the entire expressway: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has reiterated the target of April 2024 for the completion of the entire Dwarka Expressway, including the Delhi section. This 8-lane, access-controlled expressway promises to ease congestion on NH48 and improve connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram.

2. Other developments:

• Property value hike along Dwarka Expressway: The Gurugram district administration is proposing a 10-70% increase in circle rates of properties along the expressway, reflecting its anticipated impact on development and accessibility.

• Metro connectivity boost: The Union Cabinet has approved a project for metro connectivity from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City with a spur to Dwarka Expressway. This will further enhance public transportation options in the region.

• 3.6 km tunnel under construction: Work is ongoing on the 3.6 km tunnel connecting Dwarka Expressway to Palam Airport, which will be a key feature of the project.
